A must for campers is to use that campfire for cooking. And, we do not intend to keep the diet to hot dogs and schmores. Oh no, there is way to much fun to be had. Not to mention, satisfying the ol' tastebuds. From using a stick, to cast iron utensils, we'll take a look at all sorts of options.
Getting right to the point, Lodge Logic manufactures some of the best cast iron cooking products on the market. The items are completely finished, as in no rough edges, and! they are preseasoned ready for use. Did we mention Made in USA? Take a look at the Lodge Logic Grill Pan in action
Another great use for the Lodge Logic Grill Pan is doing up veggies without the need for deep frying. How yummy does the food look just by having those grill marks? It works for me!
Man, cooking an early morning breakfast over a wood fire kicks off a new day in the woods like nothing else. An Erie 8" cast iron skillet does a great job for this multi-part campfire breakfast.
Beast12102 sent us a video response over at YouTube. Not only a great vid, but includes some foraged dandelion. This meal is cooked in a steel fire pit using a cast iron skillet. Looks great!
Okay, I just finished viewing a fella goes by the moniker drzmanproject (often includes family members, too) over at Youtube cooking breakfast on a grill. Well yeah, I know that is not a campfire, but he uses a beautiful old cast iron griddle. And, I mean to tell you, he shows off some fantastic looking French Toast. He goes so far as to tell a secret ingredient. You will need to watch the video to find out just what it is.
We use some home made items to aid in this campfire shenanigans. The stakes and skewers served well for culinary purposes as well as general camp uses.
If you like a bit of heat, and want a simple campfire dish, this might be the answer. Some jalapenos, tuna, and mozzarella take the life right out of boring.
Okay, so you forgot the frying pan.
No big deal. We say, just cook on a rock.
